October 30, 2020 - Explorer Pipeline announces 2021 nonprofit partner
Explorer Pipeline, a common carrier pipeline company headquartered in Tulsa, Okla., announced Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa as the 2021 nonprofit partner selected for its Partner Agency Program. Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa, a Tulsa-based community funded nonprofit, provides nutritious meals, wellness checks and caring contact to elderly and disabled homebound individuals in Tulsa and the surrounding areas.
As part of Explorer Pipeline's three-year rotating partnership, Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa will receive up to $20,000 in year one, up to $10,000 in year two and $5,000 in year three.
“Through our partner agency program, we are able to develop impactful relationships with our local nonprofits and help deliver critical services to those in need,” said Mark Hurley, chief executive officer for Explorer. “We believe being a good neighbor is better shown through actions and that is why we encourage our employees to get involved and volunteer alongside our nonprofit partners, like Meals on Wheels. Through this engaged partnership, we hope to be a positive force on our community.”
Explorer's three-year contribution to Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa will provide nutritious meals and other essential services to the most vulnerable neighbors in our community. Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa relies on volunteers to deliver all meals to homebound seniors every week. In addition, volunteers also provide weekly wellness checks via phone and home safety projects, such as installing smoke detectors and building wheelchair ramps, to allow seniors to live independently and safely in their home longer.
“We're grateful to be selected for this program and we look forward to having Explorer's employees be part of our mission to deliver essential services to homebound seniors in our community,” said Calvin Moore, president and chief executive officer at Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa. “As we continue to care for our most vulnerable neighbors during the pandemic, this partnership will directly support the critical services we provide our clients every day.”
Explorer's 2020 Partner Agency is Iron Gate, a soup kitchen, grocery pantry and kids' pantry that provides a safe, and welcoming environment for people of all ages in need of food assistance. Explorer's 2019 Partner Agency is Lindsey House, which provides a home that encourages change, structure, and accountability, as well as life changing supportive services that benefit the entire family.
Explorer has supported a significant number of nonprofit organizations throughout its history. The company primarily serves its local communities through involvement in the United Way and has created the Partner Agency Program to strategically focus its giving strategy. Partner agencies must have 501(c)(3) status, be established before 2013 and focus on one of the following areas: STEM/education, health and human wellness, or family and youth.
