Petroleum Pipelines In Your Community
Understanding where pipelines are located, how to identify and respond to a potential leak and why it is important to call before you dig will keep you, your family, your employees, your students and your community safe.
Each day, millions of miles of underground pipelines transport petroleum products across the United States to homes and businesses. According to the National Transportation Safety Board, statistics show that pipelines are the safest mode of fuel transportation, both for the public and the environment.
Explorer operates nearly 1,900 miles of pipeline that transport gasoline, diesel fuel and jet fuel from the Gulf Coast to the Midwest. To ensure safe operations, Explorer employs a comprehensive Integrity Management plan and set of procedures to monitor and inspect its pipeline system.
Explorer has constant surveillance of its pipelines through field inspection, aircraft patrol and 24-hour observation from the control center in Tulsa. On a regular basis, Explorer also inspects the line from the inside using technology that detects signs of corrosion and mechanical damage before a problem occurs.
Explorer is known for its high safety standards and has received safety awards and recognition from the National Safety Council and the American Petroleum Institute (API) including API's Occupational Safety Performance Award.
